A systematic review of smallholder farmers’ climate change adaptation and enabling conditions for knowledge integration in Sub-Saharan African (SSA) drylands

Adaptation is important in drylands to enhance the climate change resilience of inhabitants who depend on environment for their livelihoods. Dryland farmers sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) have shown ability adapt a changing past. However, anthropogenic leading more rapidly that will surpass farmers' previous experiences and capacity, making it harder them adapt. This systematic review empirical studies farmers’ adaptation SSA from 1990 2021 shows used an array strategies respond changes based local scientific knowledge. Although both types knowledge effectiveness, they also gaps challenges. Thus, there growing evidence are integrating two help close increase effectiveness implemented.
